The 34,000 members of the American College of Radiology include radiologist, radiation oncologists, medical physicists, interventional radiologists and nuclear medicine physicians. For over three quarters of a century, the ACR has devoted its resources to making imaging safe, effective and accessible to those who need it. The mission of the ACR is to serve patients and society by maximizing the value of radiology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and medical physics by advancing the science of radiology, providing continuing education for radiology and allied health professions and conducting research for the future of radiology. As members of the ACR, the membership of the Mississippi Radiological Society offer scholarships to the top graduates of Radiologic Technology Programs in Mississippi who exemplify academic excellence, financial need and sound moral character.Meridian Community College Radiologic Technology Program’s outstanding student recipient of the Mississippi Radiological Society scholarship is Mr. Jason Barker. Jason is the son of William and Zenaida Barker and a 2000 graduate of West Lauderdale High School. He is a ten year veteran of the United States Air Force. Jason is married to Lansonita Barker and they have a daughter, Maykayla.
Mr. Barker gained entrance to Meridian Community College’s very competitive Radiologic Technology Program on his first attempt and has maintained a nearly perfect 3.86 GPA for the six semester program. At Meridian Community College, Jason has added Dean’s List scholar and member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society to his list of accomplishments. His professional affiliations include membership in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and Mississippi Society of Radiologic Technologists.
Some of Jason’s extracurricular activities include support for the MCC food pantry, donations to shoeboxes for soldiers, donations to the Health Occupation Students of America’s national campaign, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and donations to the Wesley House Community Center.
Mr. Barker is an outstanding human being whose values learned from his parents and standards acquired in the military are essential assets that will serve others well in the future. |
